Chameleon is an exaggerated and often bizarre look at gang life in Japanese schools, focusing on a shrimpy little goon named Yazawa with dreams of being a badass gangsta`. Of course, since this is Japan, being a badass gangsta` involves tricking out your scooter and beating up on other gangs with golf clubs. I guess these kids just want to impress the Yakuza, who use many similar tactics (at least, according to anime. And anime`s always right, isn`t it?).
Of course, since Yazawa is small, weak, and generally completely lacking in any social grace whatsoever, the gangs won`t have him as one of their own. He`s picked on and harrassed as much as everyone else-- at first, anyway. The thing that Yazawa`s enemies never seem to realize about him is that he`s a man with absolutely nothing to lose. This makes him incredibly dangerous, in spite of his diminutive stature-- if he`s angry or humiliated enough, then by hook or by crook, he`ll make his antagonizers eat turd.
